Transforming Veteran Healthcare Through Data and Collaboration
I joined MDClone to apply my clinical and data expertise to
groundbreaking solutions. As a Senior Clinical Consultant, I have the privilege of
supporting the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and their researchers who
leverage the MDClone data lake to drive innovation and improve care for Veterans
across the United States. Working across multiple Veterans Integrated Services
Networks (VISNs), I’ve witnessed firsthand how analysis of real-world data can
transform healthcare delivery.
Collaboration with the VA
The partnership between MDClone and the VHA is a testament to the power of
collaboration. Together, we have begun to tackle some of the most pressing challenges
in Veterans’ care through many initiatives including: Mission Daybreak, and the V-CHAMPS Challenge. These efforts highlight the VHA’s commitment to leveraging data for innovation and the potential of MDClone’s synthetic and real-world data platform to unlock actionable insights.
One of the most impactful collaborations I’ve been a part of is supporting Dr. Sandesh Dev, his team, and his groundbreaking work on cardiac amyloidosis. Cardiac amyloidosis, a condition where abnormal protein deposits affect the heart’s structure and function, poses significant challenges for diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Dev’s research focuses on improving early detection and intervention, which can significantly improve outcomes for patients. Using the MDClone platform, Dr. Dev and his team have been able to analyze complex datasets, uncover critical trends, and develop evidence-based approaches to care. This research not only advances the understanding of cardiac amyloidosis but also highlights the potential for data-driven solutions to improve care for veterans.
A Rewarding Challenge
My role is about empowering clinicians and researchers to harness the full potential of their clinical improvement ideas supported by data. Supporting the VHA means engaging with some of the brightest minds dedicated to improving Veterans’ care. From identifying clinical improvement opportunities to accomplishing real-world insights, I’m proud to play a part in enabling impactful discoveries and innovations.
Dr. Dev’s work is a prime example of how the MDClone platform can transform and energize the approach, scientific thought processes and professional fulfillments from pursuing clinical improvements, development of clinical solutions and applied research enabled by direct access to easily understandable data. I have been part of this process that has facilitated his team to formulate scientific and reproducible methods, uncover actionable insights that directly influence patient care, and has led them to discover bigger opportunities in their field of interest. I have also assisted the team to create, present and publish new knowledge that has patient care and policy implications; insights that have been made available to the medical and scientific community.
What’s Next
Looking ahead, I’m excited about continuing to support the VHA in its strategic priorities. These include – increasing the substantial real-world impact of VHA research and putting VHA data to work for Veterans. VHA has among the richest health datasets in the world that hold information that will benefit both Veterans and the nation. To accelerate the rate of these discoveries, VHA aims to accelerate scientific discovery by reducing the time and effort needed to appropriately access, properly understand, and effectively use data for improving Veterans’ well-being. It’s an honor to be a part of this journey, and I’m committed to continuing this work with passion and purpose. Together, we’re not just advancing healthcare—we’re shaping the future of care for those who have served. Beyond my work with the VHA, I look forward to expanding MDClone’s reach and
helping other organizations unlock the transformative power of data.
