MDClone’s software can do amazing things, but it is only possible if our users can navigate the platform on their own. User experience (UX) design is an integral part of developing an innovative software, and our team, led by Iris Green, are the ones to thank.
As UX Director at MDClone, Iris oversees the development and implementation of new and improved versions of the ADAMS Platform based on new information, findings, and user feedback. Iris began her career at MDClone in 2018 and now leads a team of three UX professionals.
“I was working at a telecommunications company (doing similar things as I do today), and the commute back and forth was exhausting,” said Iris. “So, when I sat down with some friends and began talking about what we would like to do in the future–I began to think about exploring career options in either medicine or the army industry. Two weeks later, I started looking for something closer to home and found the position at MDClone. I submitted my resume, and the rest is history!”
A Quick Q&A with Iris Green
Q: What is your advice to a junior UX designer wanting to grow in the profession?
A: “The advice I can give to UX people that are starting out, or even those who have been in the profession for some time, is to connect with others in the field, and get to know the user as much as possible. This is the basis for good design; without this knowledge you are working in a vacuum.
The second piece of advice I can give is working closely with your team. Having a symbiotic relationship with the head of product development and rest of the team on the project is important. This type of integrated work can bring the best product possible to the market.”
Q: What have been the most meaningful moments at MDClone?
A: “There are two things that come to mind. When I first came to work at MDClone, we started a branding process. Up to that point, it was truly a start-up company–no logo, no branding, and no tools to work with for someone like myself who does UX and UI. Finishing this process was meaningful to me.
And, of course, the moment that is incredibly meaningful and exciting for me is when we launched ADAMS version 6 after a lot of work and time put into the new version. It was an entire project from start to finish that we worked on and it was a lot of fun.”
Q: What is the highlight of your day?
A: “I start the day with intentional movement and swimming. The highlight of my day is getting to the last two pools where you’ve already finished training, and soon you will be in the sauna. To start the working day off after accomplishing training for the day is a great beginning to a productive day.”
